What personal information do we collect and why
From May 25, 2018, in The Netherlands the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has come into force. This law is valid throughout the EU and is also known as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). The law protects the processing of personal data of living persons better than before. The foundation is also bound by the rules in accordance with the AVG law.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) can be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
When uploading images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Website visitors can download and extract location information from images on the website.

Who we share your information with
The board of the family foundation is responsible for your personal data, the board members can be found under contact. The foundation has been very careful with your data for many years. We do not publish details of living persons without their express consent. Moreover, we never provide your data to third parties.
How long we keep your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata will be retained indefinitely. This is so that we can automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of keeping them in a moderation row.
For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except that they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights do you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an export file of the personal information we hold about you, including any information you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we have about you. This does not include any data that we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where do the genealogical (personal) data come from?
For more than thirty years, data has been collected from people with the surname Sparreboom and their relatives. The data was provided by members, interested parties or looked up in archive banks. Nowadays a lot of information is obtained through websites.
How do we protect your personal data?
Some of the information is stored in Family magazines (as far as provided by members), but most of it is contained in the Gramps computer program and backed up from it.
What do we do with this data?
The data will be:
- used to compile the family tree as stated in the statutes of our foundation.
- used in, after your and our approval, newsletters or family magazines.
- used for reports published on this website, but never from living persons.
- used to create address lists for sending periodic newsletters to the members of the foundation.
Accountability
The board is always accountable for the use of information, whether or not provided by you. If you come across matters that do not comply with the privacy rules set out here, you can report them to us.
